There's a girl outside...

She wants to know if I can play with her. Can I make her go high on the swings? Make her go fast on the merry-go-round? Play tag? Hide and seek? And look, today she has a coloring book. Can I come to the park with them when her daddy comes home? Watch the ants? Look at the moon?

Her mother says she never listens about not talking to strangers. She boldly goes forth, fearless. In another time and place, she would grow up to be the village matriarch.

And suddenly I feel like making more freetime in my early afternoons.

I had a neighbor kid like that once.

Remembering it still makes me smile.

Holy cow, do it. Change this child's life for the better. It seems like she already has very supportive and loving parents, but more adult role-models and friends can't hurt a child.

This is cool. You get to be an honest-to-goodness role model and make a difference in a kid's life. Help her do all the things you wish you could've done as a child. Help make sure she keeps that sense of wonderment as long as possible.

If you can, do it. I had wonderful aunts and uncles that did stuff like that with me, and it has made all the difference in my life and outlook.

And aside from the feel good stuff, actually getting out and doing stuff is even better than yoga! The benefits abound!
